Franklin Templeton beefs up core leadership team
Manraj Sekhon will remain CIO of Templeton Global Investments and co-CEO of Templeton Asset Management

Franklin Templeton has inducted Manraj Sekhon, chief investment officer of Templeton Global Investments, to its global executive committee. Sekhon is also co-chief executive officer of Templeton Asset Management.

In his expanded role on the executive committee, Sekhon will work closely with president and CEO Jenny Johnson, executive vice president and head of public markets Terrence Murphy, and other members of the global leadership team to shape the company's long-term strategy, drive business growth, and oversee key initiatives that align with the firm’s mission and core values.

Franklin Templeton’s executive committee is the core global leadership group providing long-term vision and strategic direction by bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise from various regions, ensuring that growth strategies are aligned with global market trends and client needs.

Sekhon will continue to be based in Singapore. In his capacity as CIO of Templeton Global Investments, he oversees over 120 investment professionals across 19 countries and a full suite of global and emerging markets equity strategies.

Born and raised in Singapore, Sekhon has some 30 years of global investment experience managing portfolios on behalf of pension plans, sovereign wealth, endowments, insurance, family offices and private wealth.

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton in 2018, Sekhon served as the chief executive and chief investment officer of Fullerton Fund Management, the asset management subsidiary of Temasek. Before that, he occupied various roles in London at Mercury Asset Management ( now BlackRock ), Invesco Asset Management, and Henderson Global Investors.

Sekhon graduated from the University of Warwick with a bachelor of science ( honours ) in management sciences and is a chartered financial analyst ( CFA ).

He sits as an advisory board member to the UK Department for International Trade, a council member for the Singapore-India Business Roundtable, an advisory council member of the CFA Society Singapore, and an advisor to the investment committee of the Singapore Management University ( SMU ).

He also serves as a board director of the Singapore Repertory Theatre and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
